I decided to change careers, left a successful advertising job and returned to school to earn an MBA at Columbia’s Graduate School of Business, and then on to New York University to earn a certificate in financial planning from the school’s division of Finance, Law and Taxation.

In 1996, I launched Hartwell Planning LLC, initially to provide fee-only financial planning to divorced and widowed women.  The company’s mission is to empower our clients through optimum use of their financial resources to live rich and rewarding lives.

I soon discovered a common thread among my clients – they all wanted to get a better handle on their personal finances.  Often it was too much debt that held them back.

Today, Hartwell Planning is a thriving business, designing comprehensive personal financial plans for a broad array of clients – couples and small business owners looking for solutions to their complicated financial challenges as well as multi-generational financial dilemmas, engaged couples and newlyweds, same sex partners, people seeking a divorce, and seniors seeking financial clarity.

Lift the Burden of Debt™ is a fourteen year outcome from helping my clients eliminate unwanted debt permanently.

The Author's Story

I was a personal financial planner long before I became a financial planner professionally.  As a young mother, when my sons were six and two, I suddenly became solely responsible for the financial, parental, educational and emotional needs of my family.  I had no choice but to excel at personal finances!

Over the years, I was promoted in my career to a senior advertising executive setting out the plans for Fortune 100 companies and overseeing their implementation.

But my interest in personal finances had been piqued through my own personal success.
